What 40 minutes is good for
Forty minutes is a useful middle length. It's longer than a Pomodoro, so you can settle into a piece of work, but short enough to fit between other things in a busy day.
Use it for a study block, a practice session on an instrument, a lesson, or writing a section of something longer.
Split it into two halves
For work with a clear end, like practice exam questions, try to reach the halfway point by 20:00 on the timer. It gives you a sense of pace without a second timer. Take a ten-minute break at the chime before you start again.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add a background sound?
Yes. Choose Rain, Waves or Deep under the timer. The sound plays only while the timer runs.
Will it work on my phone?
Yes, in your phone's browser. Keep the screen on: a locked phone may hold the chime until you come back.
Does it keep running if my laptop sleeps?
The time stays right, because it's kept by the clock. If the time ran out while it slept, you'll see that when it wakes.
